Switchbox Project
Completed Switchboxes Approved Switchboxes for 2011 Available Boxes
The switchbox project's purpose is to bring the work of Malden artists out onto the city's streets, with the intent of beautifying the
city and showcasing the arts. If you are an artist who lives or works in Malden, start thinking of how your art would look on these boxes!
Give your community a sense of warmth and personality, while getting your art out there.
Currently, we are able to offer a $150 honorarium to approved artists.
13 boxes were painted in 2010, and 20 more are going to be painted this summer. We will continue accepting applications on a rolling basis this season for next summer's painting.

Working with a detailed map of all of the eligible switchboxes in the city, Malden Arts and the City of Malden matched artists with a switchbox of our choosing.
Each decision is based on several factors including the need and visibility of the site and the best fit between artist and location.
Artists can request specific boxes, but the match is not guaranteed.
