Exhibit: We Have Dream
Artists were invited to create works within the theme of "We Have a Dream" for a January, 2009 exhibition at the Gallery at Elm Street (located at the First Parish of Malden, Universalist). The show is inspired by and in conjunction with the screening of Malden Access Television (MATV)’s new video, “We Have a Dream”, in which 150 Maldonians recite lines from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
We encourage you to submit a framed and ready-to-hang painting, drawing, piece of sculpture, poem/prose or other visual art, created with the thought of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech and all that has happened since that day forty-five years ago to bring us to today, the eve of President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural. The text of the speech can be found on the following website: http://www.usconstitution.net/dream.html

Pieces are due on Saturday, January 10, 2009.
The exhibit dates are January 18—February 22, 2009.
All appropriate and theme-related works accepted subject to space and installation limitations.

Opening reception Sunday, January 18, 2009 at First Parish Church, Malden. First Parish is located at Elm and Pleasant Streets (Route 60), three blocks west of the Malden Center T station. Free parking is available in the lot between the church and the Beebe Elementary School. Enter the gallery from Elm Street. The gallery is wheelchair accessible. Visit MaldenUUA.org for more information and directions.
